Wines

We love nothing more than to sit in front of the fireplace with a baguette, some cheese and salami, and

a great bottle of wine.  In fact, this is one of our regular dinners!  However, because we’re on a budget

we are on that endless hunt for great wines under $20.  Those below are some of our favorites, although

some bottles are more expensive (obviously, those were gifts we’ve received).

COMMENTS

1994 Grgich Hills Yountville Selection Cabernet Sauvignon

Excellent with a Porterhouse for two!

1997 Grgich Hills Cabernet Sauvignon

Very nice with a filet, grilled to perfection by your boss!

1997 Huntington Cabernet Sauvignon

Don’t bother looking for this.  We have the last 14 bottles in the cellar!

1997 Clos du Val Cabernet Sauvignon

This was a good one.  We got it at an open house.

1998 Woodward Canyon Artist Series Cabernet Sauvignon

We had this on the beach in Cabo for our 5th anniversary.

1995 Preston Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

We had a bottle at Caprial’s Bistro for my birthday.

1995 Frog’s Leap Merlot

This one was enjoyed at the Chart House on our first anniversary.

2002 Tualatin Estate Semi-Sparkling Muscat

Just a nice wine to have a sip of after dinner on a summer evening.

2000 Wind River Cellars Port of Celilo

We have yet to find a better Port.  But, we’ll keep trying!

1998 E. Guigal Cotes du Rhone

A “best value” in the Wall Street Journal Tastings section.  We agree.

You will note that many of favorite wines are those enjoyed on special occasions.  While there is no

doubt that the situation played a role, we believe all of these wines are great anyway.  Try one of these,

and let us know what you think!  Or, if you have a suggestion of a great wine to try, just shoot us a note!
